of hipster cats and bow-tied pooches

on the first day, fashionistas fell in love with owls.  and they wore them everywhere from their neck, to their ears and fingers and even as blouses and bags.  then came the other critters: rabbits from wonderland and deer from the hills.  even wolves and tigers decided to appear ...

but after all this wandering around the animal kingdom, fashionistas found that their true obsession lies closer to home: the cat and dog lay loyally on the sofa, waiting to be accessorised in wayfarer shades and polka-dot ties, instagrammed in a nebula with a triangular or heart-shaped frame to immortalise their reign.

oh, yessss ... as the infamous bulldog would say.  cats and dogs are the queens and kings of style right now - especially if street fashion is your niche.

if you look closely, even this mini-trend seems to have a particular rule:  cats are hipsters. grumpy cat may have had something to do with this, and he probably doesn't like it. they have laser eyes and are about to conquer the world from outer space. (as a cat owner and lover,  when was the world never owned by cats?) if the lasers are not there, their blank stare disturbs you into a false sense of comfort with their cute faces repeated all over your shirt almost hypnotising you.

it's a bit of a different story with dogs.  dogs in fashion, at least right now, have to be french bulldogs or boston terriers (owners of either, please accept my apologies but i can't always recognise one from the other!).  for the sake of this article, let's say they're frenchies.  the huge eyes and flattened muzzles beg for cuteness, and what's cuter than a frenchie in a bow-tie? a true little gentleman if i ever saw one ...

whichever side of the fence you're in on this eons old cat-dog debate, the only certainty is that their iconography is a must-print at the moment on pretty much anything you can print on ... and if that's not enough, here's some cat-ified daft punk for you to end this read with ...
