confession #000058

... or, just one of those days

this morning i woke up in one of those 'eating isn't very chanel' / 'nothing tastes as good as skinny does' kind of moods. i don't know if the (by now locally infamous) transforma advert had anything to do with it.  what with playing on my sub-conscious and all that.  it could even be the realisation of the total abandonment of any dieting effort over the last month.  my schedule has been as bad sh*t crazy as the weather here in krakow, providing me with ample excuses reasons to forego a jog for a cup of tea and a bar of chocolate.



i don't wish to make any promises to myself or to you, dear followers, because i know, that when it comes to dieting/exercising promises, these are inevitably broken within a few hours. besides, i don't want to dwell on the negatives.  the sun always shines even if it's overcast. i've opted to look for the elusive rays of sunshine rather than follow the lightning bolts.

here's my 'memo-to-self'.  i hope you find it useful on your grey days ... do you have any other tips you care to share?

sit pretty

when you're feeling 'bleah' there is the tendency to slouch, reflecting your mood and feeling.  fight it.  sit up straight and put your shoulders back.  it may not feel natural at first, but the confidence boost such a posture gives overshadows that 'unnatural' feeling.

a little red goes a long way

slap on some red lipstick.  a cherry-coloured pout is sure to brighten up the day and give you extra sass to face the day.  if red is not your colour, just go for a bold pink or orange shade which you wouldn't usually wear for everyday.

'everyday is an occasion to wear pearls'

this is one of my personal mottos.  every day should be special, but when you're feeling low, just go that extra mile.  wear one of your 'sunday best' outfits on a weekday (keeping it work-appropriate! you don't want to walk into the office with all your cleavage, or more, on show!).  if you're not that way inclined, try something different with your hair.  if you normally wear it down, pull it up in a top-knot or braid it sideways ... and let the compliments flow!


have a concert

yes, have yourself your personal concert. when the going gets tough, the tough have a little song and dance.  blast your favourite tune and sing and dance your way to a better mood. if you're around people, find a quiet corner (usually a restroom!) and be the florence/ellie/rihanna/lady gaga to the tune playing in your head.

stand tall

this is not just about wearing heels.  heels or dainty flats do help in giving an extra spring to one's step but it's not just the shoes that do it.  be assertive on your miserable days.  when you're feeling a bit low, it's easy to just let others guide you, or worse, influence you in ways you wouldn't otherwise be inclined to follow.  stand your ground without turning into the office/social bitch.

this too shall pass

remember, this is just momentary.  it could be just some overcast weather which put you in a bad mood; a sleepless night that got you cranky or a cold that will last a few days at most.  it's not going to last forever.  keep your eyes firmly placed on the best which is yet to come!
