...or, a dedicated follower of fashion

today's throwback thursday takes me to a time before i was even born. flash forward to the early 00's when i used to spend my weekends in a now defunct bar in paceville called sundown, where in good old fashion, we used to play the kinks, the beatles and rolling stones, janis joplin and jefferson airplane and all the late 60s/70s greats on the juke box while swilling beers and dubious cocktails.

in terms of socializing, i still find that those years were some of the best years of my life. the music was good, the conversation was equally enjoyable and you could actually make out what the ones around you were saying. in life as in theatre pieces, your character in the scene follows her destiny off-stage and exeunts into another act ... or another play altogether.

but i look back on those days as the time where my personal style was born. the music i used to listen to in those day, which i still listen to actually, certainly bears on my instinctive choice of long flowing dresses, tousled hair and natural-yet-sunkissed-look make-up. most days, i dream of being a flower child swaying to hendrix' music over in a field in bethel, new york (that is, woodstock). other days, i dream of being instead of my mom and dad, experiencing london in 1968, in pure mod get-ups.

and that's where the inspiration for this little number came from. gearing up for my minibreak in london in a few weeks' time, i can't but channel all the mod fashions i am familiar with after browsing my parents' honeymoon album a million and one times...
